As a top Miami personal trainer, I’ve noticed that most people have never done one of my favorite cardio workouts. I grew up in Connecticut, so I enjoy the outdoors and love being active whenever I can. And there’s no better place to do that then in Miami.
Miamians don’t take advantage of everything the city has to offer such as the beautiful scenery and the amazing weather we have year-round.
My favorite place in the Brickell area to do cardio is the Rickenbacker Causeway located in Key Biscayne. The bridge is about 1.8 miles to and from the parking lot, so this works out to be an intense 20 to 25 minute run.
Here are my TOP reasons to run/walk the bridge:
1.) The skyline of Miami is breathtaking.
2.) There’s usually a cool breeze even in the summertime.
3.) The bridge has a great incline that will increase the intensity of your workout without even trying.
4.) Lots of people running. This creates a positive atmosphere and it’s a safe place to workout.
5.) Beautiful sunrise and sunset.
6.) Great for a power walk. It will lengthen your stride and it will really target your glutes (butt).
7.) There’s plenty of FREE parking.
Here are 3 runs you can do:
1) Run over the bridge and back.
2) Run from the bottom of bridge to the top at a good pace. Run to one side and power walk back.
3) Intervals – Run lamppost to lamppost (push yourself on these about 80 to 90% of your maximum effort), then walk lamppost to lamppost (is about 40 yards).
Hope you give this workout a try. It will give you a boost to start your day.
